Yom Ha’Shoah is an annual day of observance for the six million Jewish people murdered in the Holocaust and the remembrance of Jewish resistance under Nazi control. Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, is honored beginning on the evening of April 17th through sundown on April 18th. And again, let’s remember that while Jewish people suffered during the Holocaust, so did many other marginalized communities.  This is a reminder to all that it happened before, and this can happen again.

Although antisemitism has never truly abated, anti-Jewish rhetoric and violence has risen within the past few years. The Anti-Defamation League determined 2021 to be the highest year on record for antisemitic attacks reported, the peak of several years where antisemitism has spiked nationally.

Allyship and advocacy begin with understanding the history and stories of those around us. To better support Jewish colleagues and loved ones, take the time to learn more about Holocaust Remembrance Day and how to be an advocate for the Jewish community.
